Aaron Murray
AK Amputee

Aaron Murray has been using the services offered by Ability Prosthetic Systems for three and a half years. He recalled his first visit to Ability.
“ My first appointment I called at 5:30 pm and even though they were closed they said that they would see me because of the problems that I was having, i.e. severe swelling, redness and bruising on the end of my stump. I also had sores at the top of my stump and lots of pain. My previous prosthetist kept telling me it was because I was not putting my leg on right. Tom immediately recognized it as me being too big for my present leg and took it from me. He then fit me for, and made a new leg. Within two weeks I was walking pain free again and ever since.”
Aaron was diagnosed with bone cancer in his right leg in 1999 while serving an LDS mission. Amputation was necessary in order to save his life. After the surgery, Aaron was immediately fit with a temporary above-knee prosthesis so that he could return and complete his mission. When asked how this experience has changed him, Aaron replies, “It has changed my life [and] given me a more in-depth respect for life. It has made me look at and accept people differently. Gave me love for life.”
When asked how Ability Prosthetics’ staff helped make Aaron’s experience especially memorable, Aaron responded, “They provided me top of the line materials, the C-leg and expertise. [They] laminated the Loony Toon Taz onto my socket, as well as a Green Bay Packers logo on another socket.”
“ Tom made my experience with Ability Prosthetics special,” Aaron said, “[They’ve] provided me with the best leg, the C-Leg; an excellent staff; great experiences; news; new friendships; and a better chance at life.”
